Get to Know Our

Main Clay Studio

When we refer to the 'Main Clay Studio,' we mean the spacious, communal studio space located on our first floor. This is where clay artists of all experience levels and interests can access a shared collection of tools, equipment, and accessories to bring their creative visions to life.

Where Creativity and Community Thrive

The Main Clay Studio is an integral part of PROJECT: Starfish, embodying our mission to create a welcoming and dynamic resource hub for ceramic artists in our region. This large, communal space fosters collaboration, learning, and connection among artists of all experience levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "communal" mean?

Our space is communal in that we share the space, tools, equipment, expertise, and other resources with the larger group. That means that everyone needs to leave the space cleaner than they found it, make room and space for others to use the tools and equipment as well, and to be generally considerate and courteous.

How much does membership cost?

At POCG, we don’t have prices or costs. We're not a company providing a service; we're a community built on collaboration, not transactions. POCG has a wealth of resources to allocate, and members are expected to contribute (whether that’s time, talent, or treasure) to support our collective effort. We are dedicated to providing options that make our resources accessible to all. Enter our Sliding Scale Contribution Model. Listed under membership or allocation options, you will see something like: “Sliding Scale: $0-40 | $60 | $80” The first contribution option listed is for those in need of a reduced contribution which allows for their participation. This amount is below the cost of participation. The second contribution option listed is for those who are able to pay their way at the actual cost of participation. The third contribution option listed is for those in a position to contribute a higher amount. This covers the cost of participation and contributes to the overall operation costs of the clay studio and helps others participate. We don't require any proof of income or otherwise-- you simply can choose the appropriate option for you at this time.

Why do you have a Sliding Scale Contribution Model?

As part of our mission to remove barriers to participation, our memberships and experience-based offerings are presented on a sliding scale. This enables members to contribute an amount that is comfortable at the time. We understand that capacity can change over time, and so can contribution amounts as income or capacity increases or decreases over time. No one is ever locked into a contract with us. And, if the presented contribution options are still a barrier to your participation, please discuss this with us during your initial tour or contact membership@pennohioclayguild.org for more options.

What is expected of Guild Members?

The PennOhio Clay Guild is a collective of artists united by a shared vision. By pooling our resources —whether it’s time, experience, or money— we create opportunities and experiences that benefit us all. We are a volunteer run organization with no paid staff. Because of this, we rely on the generosity of our members' gifts of time, treasure, and talent. Each guild member is expected to contribute their unique sensibilities to the growth and success of our collective. There are a variety of ways to support our mission and every skill, talent, gift, or bit of time you can offer is invaluable. Your contribution is essential, and hopefully, a personally rewarding experience for you. We are a community built on collaboration, not transactions.
